Her new collection of poetry looks at the different masks we wear in relationships

Her award-winning poetry collection, The Adoption Papers, was described as a "triumphant debut". Since then Jackie Kay has gone from strength to strength as a writer.

She has a remarkable imagination but it has been said of her that she also has an "ability to write about lesbian relationships and racial identity without ever seeming to be pushing an issue on us".

In her new poetry collection, Life Mask, she brings her characteristic warmth and incisive observation to bear on the emotional fall-out of a break-up, and the different masks we wear in our relationships.
