Viking women15 February 2005
unearthing evidence on how they lived

Around 1200 years ago, Viking warriors sailed from Scandinavia to the British Isles and beyond, where they fought battles, looted monasteries, and took land. Or at least, that's what the men did. So what about the women?

Woman's Hour looks at the archaeological evidence and traces of information found in literature and Norse mythology to unearth some of the lesser known aspects of the Viking Age.
