On new guidelines to help victims of domestic violence
This week the proposals to change the way allegations of domestic violence are taken to court have been finalised and passed to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The main changes will give better protection to victims and children, help victims give evidence in court, improve the gathering of evidence and supervision of bail and enable lawyers to proceed even if a victim says she doesn't want to go ahead with a case.
Jenni asks the Solicitor General, Harriet Harman QC, how the new guidelines will provide better protection for victims and their children?
