HRT19 January 2005
weighing up the risks and the benefits

In recent years is has been claimed that HRT can bring greater risk of breast cancer, heart attacks, and blood clots. Now, academics at Nottingham University are claiming that HRT increases risk of stroke by 29%.

So what should women do? Are the risks greater than the benefits? And what can you do if, like one listener, you suffer withdrawal symptoms?

Professor David Purdie joins Jenni to consider the research findings and what they mean for the 10 million women around the world, who are on HRT.
