Older mothers & IVF14 January 2005
When are you too old for IVF?

The age of the mother is to be a major factor to be considered in a public consultation on the welfare of children born by IVF. But recent government statistics show that older childbearing is on the rise anyway.

In a week when one 59 year old mother of 2 toddlers gave her story to the press, Martha asks when is old too old? Are older women being selfish in attempting to conceive a much longed-for baby? Will their children really be worse off than those of younger parents? Or are we just unreasonably prejudiced against older mothers?
