Wendy Ramshaw06 January 2005
Sculptor & jewellery designer

It is as a jeweller that Sunderland-born Wendy Ramshaw is best known, but in recent years she has developed a body of work on a larger scale.

Her gates and screens, and other complex designs have established her reputation as a inventive sculptor. She was awarded an OBE in 1996 for her services to the arts and continues to push the boundaries between sculpture and jewellery.

Many of her pieces went on show recently at an exhibition at the Blackwell House in Kendal; Caz Graham went to meet her to find what motivates this highly original artist.

Wendy Ramshaw’s work from 12 January to 17 January at Collect 2005, the Craft Council’s international art fair for contemporary objects which is being held at the Victoria and Albert Museum
