It is as a jeweller that Sunderland-born Wendy Ramshaw is best known, but in recent years she has developed a body of work on a larger scale.
Her gates and screens, and other complex designs have established her reputation as a inventive sculptor. She was awarded an OBE in 1996 for her services to the arts and continues to push the boundaries between sculpture and jewellery.
Many of her pieces went on show recently at an exhibition at the Blackwell House in Kendal; Caz Graham went to meet her to find what motivates this highly original artist.
