A holiday tradition or a wearisome task?

The number of postcards being sent is falling year on year. We sent 30 million 6 years ago, but only 25 million in 2003.

So as more people keep in touch through text and e-mail, should we be mourning the decline of a colourful holiday tradition, or sighing with relief? Journalist Liz Green explains why she hates them.
