Why she is a role model for emerging British divas

Gabrielle’s debut single Dreams put her at the top of the charts back in 1993, but it was written at a time when her dreams were certainly not coming true.

The singer songwriter tends to draw on personal experience for her music. The best selling album Rise, as Gabrielle told us at the time, was rooted in tragedy – her ex partner was convicted of murder.

Her new CD Play to Win is about, she says, love, loss, dealing with relationships. Gabrielle sings live in the studio.

Play to win is on the Island records
