Martha has a lesson in bee keeping
The mysterious history of the honey bee

We've been eating honey for at least 4,000 years...it not only tastes good but is said to have medicinal qualities too. A new book by Hattie Ellis looks at the history of bees and how honey was used by ancient tribesmen in Africa, the ancient Egyptians, the Greeks and the Romans.

Martha, herself a bee lover, talks to the author and has a lesson in bee keeping from Jan Dryburgh.

Hattie Ellis, Sweetness & Light: The Mysterious History of the Honey Bee is published by Sceptre
