Sculptor whose androgyny found expression in her work

Fiore de Henriquez, who died last month, was a sculptor whose portraits of a whole generation of British public figures span fifty years. She was also a creative artist whose work ranged from the monumental to the intimate. So why is she so little known in the country whose nationality she adopted after the Second World War?

Her biographer, Jan Marsh talks to Jenni about how Fiore's hermaphroditism informed her art, her life and her lack of public profile.

Art and Androgyny: The Life of Sculptor Fiore de Henriquez, published by Elliott and Thompson, ISBN 1904027202 from September 2004
