Jefferson Davis Pie2 July 2004
A pie for American Independence Day

Sunday is 4 th July, American Independence Day. What better to celebrate with than that most American of dishes, a pie.

In the next of our series on pies, Tamasin Day Lewis prepares a pie so American it was named after a Confederate President - Jefferson Davis.

She tells Anna McNamee that in her opinion Americans have raised pie-making to an art. If you're at all doubtful just think of some of their favourites.
