Partners of Transsexuals10 June 2004
How do partners cope if the man they marry wants to become a woman?

There are an estimated 5000 transsexuals in Britain, 70 per cent of which are men who have become women. The Gender Recognition Bill will give these transsexuals the right to change their birth certificates to reflect their new sex.

But what about their wives and partners? How do they cope if the man they married says he wants to become a woman and can the relationship survive?

Jenni talks to Annie Whitehead whose partner of 14 years is transsexual and is now a woman and Diana Aitchison is co-ordinator of a group called Women of the Beaumont Society which offers support and help to women who's partners cross dress or are transsexual.
