Man about the house3 June 2004
Do we still expect men to do the DIY because they are male?

Feminism may have released women from the kitchen, but did it also liberate men from the toolshed?

A new book called the Lost Art of Being a Man is being marketed as the book that will help men impress the lady in their lives by showing them how to deal with household tasks such as fixing a burst pipe.

Journalist, Penny Anderson and Dr Paul Taylor from Leeds University join Jenni to discuss whether we're still guilty of assuming men should take on the DIY simply because of their sex.

How to Keep House The Lost Art of Being a Man by Sam Martin is published by Bloomsbury, ISBN 0 7475 7402 2
