Development checks11 May 2004
Do babies and small children need development checks?

A Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) report has recommended dropping screening tests for infants at 8 months, 2 years and 3 ½ years. Instead there will be a core screening programme with extra support for children in deprived areas. But will this new service lead to children with problems, going undetected?

Jenni discusses concerns raised by the report with author Professor David Hall and Carolyn Taylor, Chair of the Community Practitioners and Heath Visitors Association.
