As well known for her sexual liaisons as her Art Deco images

The epitome of the Art Deco period, artist Tamara de Lempicka is as notorious for her glamorous lifestyle as she is famous for her powerful and sensual paintings.

As a new exhibition of her work opens at the Royal Academy of Arts, Jenni looks at the life of this Art Deco icon with her grand-daughter, Victoria, and discusses the importance of the art with expert, Ghislaine Wood.

Tamara de Lempicka : Art Deco Icon is at the Royal Academy, London 15 May to 30 August 2004. Ghislaine Wood's talk, Sensuous Surfaces: Art Deco and the art of Tamara de Lempicka is on 2 July.
