Women suffering from very heavy periods are to be offered less drastic solutions
Menorrhagia, or very heavy periods, is estimated to affect 1.5 million women in England and Wales and around 26,000 women a year have a hysterectomy to tackle the problem.
Last week NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) issued guidelines saying that all women suffering from menorrhagia should be offered a less intrusive alternative to hysterectomy.
