Proportionally the number of women Liberal Democrat MPs is only marginally higher than the Conservatives, and far behind Labour. But should they accept positive discrimination, and introduce formal mechanisms to select more women for winnable seats? Or is that, as some party members argue, a fundamentally illiberal proposal?
