Divorce among the over 50s15 Apr 2004
The divorce rate among the over 50s has risen dramatically in the last 20 years. Why is this happening and what are the effects on grown-up children and grandchildren?

While the average number of divorces has remained fairly constant in the last two decades, the divorce rate among the over 50s has gone up by 50 per cent.

Alex Gutteridge, author of Oven Chips for Tea and Marj Thoburn, a psycho-sexual counsellor and author of Loving in Later Life, join Jenni to discuss the effect on families when a marriage of thirty-odd years comes to an end.

Oven Chips for Tea by Alex Gutteridge, published by Corgi Yearling Books, ISBN 0-440-86558-1

The Relate Guide to Loving in Later Life by Marj Thoburn and Suzy Powling is published by Vermilion, ISBN 0091815495
