Why don't more people foster children?16 Apr 2004
It is estimated that there is a shortage of around 8,000 foster carers in the UK. What prevents more people from fostering, and how can the barriers be overcome?

Up to 50,000 children and young people are currently in foster care. Is this due to the fact that so many women now work full-time work, or that many couples rely on two incomes?

Judy Herman talks to a foster carer about their experience.

And Jackie Sanders from Fostering Network and Maxine Wrigley from A National Voice talk to Martha about the issues.
