Gladiator Re-EnactmentsWednesday 18 February 2004
As part of our Women in History series we take a look at female warriors. The concept of professional female gladiators is a matter of great debate - but there is quite alot of historical evidence that points to them being a facet of Rome's lethal gladitorial games, albeit an unknown one.

Felicity Finch met female gladiators Susanna Shadrake and Mandy Turner as they battled it out, practising for their next bout. Felicity talks to them about what it's like to take part in the re-enactments.
You can see them in action this May in Flag Fen, Cambridgeshire.
