If you want to "say it with flowers" there is no doubt that a big bunch of red roses says I love you - one single red rose can mean new labour, you live in Lancashire or your boyfriend's mean and a white rose means you come from God's own country - Yorkshire.

The author Justine Hopkins explains to Claudia Hammond the range of meanings that attach to the rose.
