Single mothers - still a stigma?03 December 2003
Have the bad old days when a woman had to be thick skinned above all else to make it as a lone parent really gone?

To mark their 85th anniversary Woman's Hour have been given access to the National Council for One Parent Families archive and have unearthed stories of great courage but also of stigma bordering on persecution.

Jenni is joined by Kate Green who runs the National Council for One Parent Families and Robert Whelan, Deputy Director of Civitas to discuss whether the stigma of being a lone parent has really gone away or just been driven underground.
