Nighat Chaudry04 December 2003
Nighat Chaudry spent her childhood in this country training to be a ballet dancer. When she was a teenager her family decided to go home and she became fascinated by the dance traditions of her own culture and decided to concentrate her efforts in that direction.

She's now considered one of the world's greatest exponents of a traditional Pakistani dance called Khatak. The footwork involved is extremely complex and it's believed the style of dancing inspired the Spanish Flamenco.

Nighat has been performing at the Lowry in Salford, where she met Jill Hopkins.
