Is Neglect Causing Children in Care to Self Harm?Tuesday 4 November 2003
Are we neglecting neglect? With all the attention in recent years on the physical and sexual abuse of children, those who are suffering from straightforward neglect may be having their needs overlooked.

A recent report looks at the very young in care in Northern Ireland. It illustrates the desperate straits of such children, citing the case of a four year old who tried to cut her wrists.
How can both the short and the long term damage of neglect be adequately addressed? Will the proposals within the new Green Paper, Every Child Matters, help or hinder the well-being of neglected children?
Jenni is joined by Sally Bamsey from the National Children's Bureau and Amy Weir to discuss the isssues.
