Cleaning the StepTuesday 21 October 2003
Up until the 1960s it was a common sight to see many women and girls on their knees along the street all scrubbing their doorsteps in perfect unison.

Jean Brisson from Glasgow still keeps this dying art alive and she agreed to sahre with Sue Elliott-Nicholls the secret of creating a gleaming flagstone, which you could eat your dinner off. But first we hear from Irlene Cox and Cathleen Bedford about their memories of cleaning those steps.
