Kenyan author, Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor, is this year's winner of the 2003 Caine Prize for Literature - the most prestigious award for writing in Africa.
Narrated by a male aristocratic Rwandan refugee in the aftermath of the 1994 massacres, it was singled out by the judges for the "subtle and suggestive way it dramatises the condition of the refugee and also successfully incorporates so many large issues." The prize has been heralded as an extraordinary boost to black female writers in Africa and Jenni will be speaking to Yvonne to find out how she felt to win the award.
