 | | | | Women in The Bible - Deborah | Friday 2 May 2003 | | |
Whether you're religious or not, there is something extraordinary about stories from the Bible, handed down as they have been for 3000 years. There are also some striking women in the Old Testament - Delilah, Jezebel, Jael with her tent peg.
In the second in our series on the hidden women of the Bible we look at Deborah - an exceptional figure even by modern standards. Kathleen Griffin talked to Tina Beattie, a lecturer in Christian studies at the university of Surrey and Dr Lavinia Byrne of the Cambridge theological foundation.
