Joan Perkin: The Merry DuchessTuesday 18 March 2003
The Merry Duchess by Joan Perkins
Joan Perkin wrote The Merry Duchess which tells the story of Harriot Mellon who, in the late 18th century, rose to become a star at Drury Lane. She was just as famous after the death of her husband, when she became a wealthy & eccentric widow who became well known for the fabulous parties she threw in Brighton.

Author and Historian Joan Perkin joins Jenni to discuss Harriott's life.
