The Magdalene Sisters The Magdalene Sisters, Peter Mullan's film based on the true stories of 'fallen women' locked up in the now infamous Irish Magdalene laundries, opens next week.

In these notorious laundries, single mothers had their babies taken away, were put to work 364 days a year and subjected to horrific abuse at the hands of the Sisters of Mercy.
Jenni will be talking to the actress Geraldine McEwan who plays the terrifying Sister Bridget in the film and to Sally Mulready who is still campaigning for compensation and an apology from the Catholic Church.
Sally Mulready runs the London Irish Womens Survivors Network
The Magdalene Sisters is released 21st Feb 2003 by Miramax Film. Certificate 15.
