Love SonnetsWednesday 29 January 2003
Now the fourth in our series of love sonnets. Christina Rossetti was born in 1830, the sister of the Pre-Raphaelite painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti, and lived in London almost all of her life. She is well known for her poetry for adults & children and for her spiritual writings.

Libby Spurrier meets up with Janet Todd from the University of Glasgow and Isobel Armstrong of Birkbeck College, who have been comparing notes on the fourth poem in Rossetti's sonnet sequence Monna Innominata.
You can find this sonnet, and all the other sonnets in our series, in The Oxford Book of Sonnets , edited by John Fuller, published by Oxford University Press: ISBN: 0192142674.
