Cowgate Stress ProjectThursday 2 January 2003
Post festive stress is something most of us will be suffering from right now - the effects of overdosing on close relations, rich food, booze and too much time slaving over a hot stove.

Most of us expect to recover in the next week or so. If at the same time you have to deal with poor housing and not much money it's not so easy to pull yourself together.
A group of women on a deprived estate in Newcastle did a survey of the residents and found that nearly all of them were suffering from stress, but they didn't demand more professional services. They've set up their own scheme to help each other - the Wise People's Project.
Clare Jenkins has been to the Cowgate estate to talk to the women involved...
