Here's a creature that's been sorely misunderstood. It doesn't suck your blood, has no interest in living in a belfry, and would hate to get tangled in your hair. It's not even blind.

Cindy Blaney is a woodkeeper and a licensed bat expert with English Nature. She gives bat spotting tours throughout the summer on Hampstead Heath to promote a better understanding of her favourite animal.
Jennifer Chevalier went along on a tour, which started with a look at a live bat in Kenwood House.
