Gertrude LawrenceWednesday 21 August 2002
This week sees the opening of a new production of Noel and Gertie. It's a musical charting the creative relationship of the actress, Gertrude Lawrence and Noel Coward.

Gertrude was the epitome of 30's glamour, smart, sexy, and fun with her elegant dresses and long cigarette holders. When she died tragically young they dimmed the theatre lights on Broadway and Shaftesbury Avenue.
Biographer Phillip Hoare and actress Annabel Leventon, who plays Gertrude, join to Sheila to explain why she's been forgotten.
Phillip Hoare, Noel Coward, published by Mandarin; ISBN: 0749323671
