The AfroThursday 22 August 2002
When Naomi Campbell posed with an afro hairstyle in last month's Vogue, fashionistas began to wonder whether the hairstyle that went out with sequinned flares was back.

It's also been cropping up on the catwalks, adverts and films. In the 70s it was the symbol of black pride, a style promoted by the likes of Angela Davis and Mohammed Ali.
But are today's afros, or 'fros as they're now called, a celebration of black identity or simply another nod to seventies fashion?
Hannah Pool from The Guardian and Ronke Jolaoso from Black Beauty and Hair magazine join Martha to discuss.
