Michelle CollinsThursday 8 August 2002
Until the shocking headlines this July, the idea of an IVF mix-up was seen as so unlikely as to be the stuff of fiction.

A new BBC drama will explore the emotional fall-out of just such a situation. Ella and the Mothers, adapted from the novel by Rachel Morris, mirrors the current scandal in which a white couple has had black twins following IVF treatment.
This case is the first of its kind in Britain and is expected to lead to a custody battle over which couples are the twins' legal parents.
Michelle Collins plays one of the mothers and joins Martha to talk about about her role.
'Ella and the Mothers' can be seen on BBC1 on 10th & 11th August at 9 pm
