Srimpi DanceMonday 10 June 2002
Today the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London is hosting a festival of dance from the Royal Courts of Java. The event is called Behind the Mask.

It includes a rare performance of a sacred dance, Srimpi, which dates from the late 19th century. It was originally restricted to the inner circle of the court and danced only by princesses or hand picked female servants.
Jenni talks to Jeannie Park, an American born Korean, who has studied and performed Indonesian dance for over 15 years.
