The World's Ugliest WomanTuesday 2 April 2002
In the 1850s, Julia Pastrana was billed as the ugliest woman in the world, in freak shows across Europe.


She was four and a half feet high, with most of her face covered with shining black hair and a double row of teeth in each jaw.
But was she exploited or did she use her looks as the means to empowerment and financial independence?
