Gravel GardensMonday 25 March 2002
As spring arrives, the sun begins to glisten and the garden beckons.

Woman's Hour, hears the story of Beth Chatto, who spent forty years reclaiming her run down land near Colchester in Essex.
Remarkably, Beth grew a gravel garden, on three quarters of an acre of land that used to be a car park. From an overgrown wasteland with poor gravel soil and boggy hollows it has been transformed into an informal garden harmonising with the surrounding countryside.
