Maps of DesireMonday 18 March 2002
The new play Maps of Desire is inspired by Marina Warner's Wonder Tales. The play is staged by the Wonderful Beast theatre company whose speciality is the recreation of myths, legends and fairytales.

Maps of Desire is set in a seventeenth century literary salon in Paris where women dominated the proceedings.
Jenni discusses with the plays director, Alys Kihl and author Marina Warner why these tales are still so telling for women after three centuries.
Maps of Desire is on at Southwark Playhouse, London, until 6 April. Box office number is 0207 620 3494.
Wonder Tales : Six French Stories of Enchantment, edited by Marina Warner, Farrar Straus Giroux; ISBN: 0374292817, £15.53
