Shirana Shahbazi'sSaturday 2 March 2002
Shirana Shahbazi's photography documents everyday life in Iran - people at home, work, meals, weddings, blocks of flats but are said to impart an epic quality to modest scenes of social activity. An exhibition of her work runs at the Photographers Gallery in London until the end of the month.

This week Shirana won photography's equivalent of the Turner prize, the Citigroup Award worth £15,000. She joins Martha Kearney to talk about her reaction to winning the prize, and why it is scenes from daily life which inspires her work.
