Top GirlsThursday 10 January 2002
Caryl Churchill's play Top Girls was first performed at the Royal Court twenty years ago. A play about women's lives during the Thatcher years, it seemed to sum up the zeitgeist of the 1980s - ambition and greed.

It's central character, Marlene, faces the choice of successful career or successful motherhood. But are the choices women faced twenty years ago still ones we battle with today?
To answer this question, Jenni is joined by the Director of the current production, Thea Sharrock, and Genista McIntosh, Executive Director of the Royal National Theatre.
Top Girls opens Wed 9th Jan for a limited run until Sat 2 Feb at the Aldwych Theatre, London. It then goes on a national UK tour until 20 April.
