Love storiesFriday 4 January 2002
Martha discusses the love story at the heart of Les Misérables.

The young revolutionary student, Marius and the beautiful orphaned girl, Cosette struggle against the odds to come together.
But do modern-day readers always hanker after a happy ending or do they prefer a more realistic tale of betrayal and deceit?
Martha is joined by Lin Coghlan, the adapter of Les Misérables, and by the writer, Shyama Perera, whose latest novel Do The Right Thing is published later this month.
Do The Right Thing (Sceptre, ISBN: 0340728221, £10.99)
