Last Saturday Caroline Freud married Charles Spencer ... in a red dress.

Fashion analysts hailed her decision as 'bold', but of course it is December, when many women don their red dresses for Christmas parties.
But what does it mean when we choose to wear red? Does a colour with so many different meanings - passion, anger, happiness, love - send mixed messages?
Jennifer Chevalier looks back at the significance of the red dress.
