Nelofer PaziraFriday 2 November 2001
Nelofer Pazira is the young Afghani woman who inspired and starred in the film Kandahar, which President Bush has asked to see.

Nelofer left Afghanistan with her parents in 1989, but recently tried to return to help a friend escape from living under the Taliban regime.
The film was made with Afghani refugees living on the Iranian border - most of whom had never seen celluloid in their lives.
Nelofer Pazira joins Martha in the studio.
Kandahar won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury 2001 Cannes Film Festival. It is being shown at the ICA in London on November 16th and then goes on general release around Britain.
