The Pill in JapanThursday 18 October 2001
The pill is celebrating its 50th birthday this week. Its creators attended a conference in Japan to launch it.

But whilst British women have taken it for granted as a possible choice of birth control, it has been outlawed in Japan until two years ago.
Anna McNamee reports on why its taken the Japanese so long to legalise the pill and whether Japanese women have come to embrace it.
