Her foray into the world of sports journalism

The best-selling author of 'Eats, Shoots and Leaves' happily admits that she had spent her entire life doing her best to ignore sport and everything associated with it. So it was a surprise to her when she was asked, aged 41, to become an official sports writer for The Times. Also unexpected was the profound change to her life that took place over the next four years covering some of the world’s major sporting events. She talks to Jane about her time as 'special know-nothing correspondent', and the highs and lows of becoming a temporary sports fan.

'Get Her Off the Pitch!', by Lynne Truss, is published by Fourth Estate, ISBN: 978-0-00-730574-2
