Fathers and birth certificates3 June 2008
Should mothers be forced to name a child's father?

Each year about 45,000 children born in England and Wales do not have their father named on their birth certificate. The Government has just published a White Paper containing proposals to make mothers include the father’s name, unless it is ‘impractical, impossible or unreasonable’ to do so. Duncan Fisher from the Fatherhood Institute and Kate Bell, Head of Policy for the charity One Parent Families, join Jane to discuss.
