Restoration of the Edward Pugin designed monastery.

It's over a decade since the Monastery of St Francis and Gorton Trust started its fund raising campaign to save the Pugin designed monastery in Gorton, east Manchester. Today the £6 million restoration of the building is complete, on time and on budget and the Monastery will now become one of Manchester’s premier conference venues.

Caz Graham took a tour of the building with the help of Elaine Griffiths, Project Director for the Monastery of St Francis and GortonTrust. Elaine was recently awarded an MBE for her services to Heritage for her work to save the building.
