Giving youngsters a chance to perform

It's an annual event that sees thousands of young musicians, singers and dancers come together at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The School Proms is the highlight of a series of Music for Youth events - meant to give youngsters the chance to perform or be part of an audience, perhaps for the first time. Earlier this year our reporter Sara Parker joined primary pupils at one the regional events that leads up to the concert - the Primary Prom in Birmingham. She found the young musicians equal in commitment and enthusiasm, but not in resources and opportunity.

The School Prom 2007 takes place at the Royal Albert Hall, London 12-14th November
