Amber
The enduring appeal of this ancient resin.

Amber is about 40 million years old and, if your piece has an unlucky insect trapped inside, it’s especially valuable. It’s made from the resin which at one time hung like toffee apples from the branches of evergreens. Claudia Hammond talks about amber to Victoria Finlay, the author of Jewels: A Secret History at the Gemological Association of Great Britain along with their Chief Executive Jack Ogden.
